LEGO INDUSTRY TERMS

• franchise - a group which many spin off brands can come off. e.g. star wars the biggest franchise of all time
• synergy - refers ti the way in which different areas of the movie work together to promote the same product. The LEGO MOVIE uses synergy through linked products like superhero cast from DC comics and minfigures
• tent-pole production - a really successful film like the lego movie makes such large profits that warner can afford to fund other projects, as well as tie-in merchandise, which will prolong the profit stream from the film
• ensemble cast - A large cast 
• conglomerate - A large business organisation that owns a number of different companies
• vertical integration - Is the process whereby a single company controls both the production and the supply. So TT fusion, owned by Warner Bros, makes thee video game while warner bros distributes the product to audiences

Task 3, The Lego movie

 Task 3: Go to the BBFC site and research age ratings. Why was The Lego Movie (2014) given a PG rating?

BBFC has given The Lego Movie a rating of U because it is a animated film. There are lots of fight scenes but very few which actually show anything happening to the lego characters which is why it has not been given a higher rating.

Go to the PEGI site and research what age ratings are about. Why is The Lego Movie video game classification 7+?

PEGI has give the lego video game a 7+ because it contains violence but nothing which is too violent to scare or harm viewers in any way. There are multiple scenes where the lego characters fight and the person controlling has to fight which is why they have given it a 7+ and not a 3+

Task 1 The lego movie

 Task 1: how does Emmet come across? Emmet comes across as an ordinary guy who isn't special and doesn't have many characteristics of a superhero or the special one

How effective would this trailer be in promoting the film? This trailer would be very good at promoting the film as it looks like it is for all ages and has some jokes which could be for older people and has some people in it which could be recognised by older people like Abraham Linken. It is also comedic appealing to all ages but usually younger kids.
